Trevor made his CX debut racing with the 15-18 juniors. We met on the bike path and rode over to the race in true Bandwagon style. It was a little brisk at 8am but kids don't care. One practice lap and he was off. I can tell his Dad has been working with him on his dismounts. After he gets the hang of coming into all those loose flat corners he will be rocking the 'cross seen.
The course was really fun with a couple little sections of singletrack to ease the soul into giving it everything on the run-up one more time. Trevor raced his way into 6th place, then hung out ALL day and cheered me on! It was a lot warmer by the time we rode home.

The run-up was pretty long which was fine by me, I'm running at about the same speed I'm riding at the moment, haha! I had a much better day today. Mostly due to a course that was suited a little better to my current level of fitness. I finished on the lead lap, didn't get DFL, got some UCI points, won some money and finished lucky number 13.

The finger is feeling dramatically better by the second. The barriers were pretty easy to hop.
Man everybody was screaming there lungs out like it was a World Cup! Especially Eddie Miller and his kid! THANKS to everybody who came out and cheered! I'll be inching my way closer to the front with every race.
USA Cycling is planning on putting on this race again next year, but the venue will have to change, as condos are going in on this property. To bad... There is another CX race coming to Colorado Springs on Movember, 19th. Just north of the Garden of the Gods at Flying W Ranch, should be reasonably rad!
Condos? That's too bad, as that was a cool course.
ReplyDeleteNo credit to me on his riding. Trevor has been working out the cx techniques on his own. Watching videos on the web and building a practice barrier out of toothpaste, straw, popsicle sticks, and a couple of pieces of used duct tape.
ReplyDeleteWOW that is awesome!! Keep those kids off the internet and they will find something productive to do...
